Duarte Ferreira, a Civil Engineering student, was distinguished for his participation in the fourth edition of the UMinho Scientific Initiation Award. He presented a solution aimed at reducing the ecological footprint of concrete, which was developed as part of the GlassCON project. The solution involves incorporating industrial glass waste into concrete production. This substitution promotes circular economy practices and has the potential to contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, such as CO2.
