Sofia Sousa, a Civil Engineering student, was distinguished for her participation in the fifth edition of the UMinho Scientific Initiation Award. She presented the development of a sustainable mortar that promotes the valorization of fluorescent lamp waste (whose current destination is landfill), considering its use in 3D printing. This innovative research is part of the GlassCON project, conducted in partnership with the environmental management company Naturpaiva.
This year, CTAC contributed to the event with the presentation of two studies (Sofia Sousa e João Rafael Costa) focusing on the valorization of glass from Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), highlighting its commitment to addressing emerging environmental challenges.
