Paulo Brazil}, abstract = {The construction sector is known to be highly fragmented and slow in the transmission of information between stakeholders, thus placing, productivity, profitability and corporate profits at risk. The Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and mobility solutions aim at to reverse this trend and help to improve the profitability of construction companies and the performance of its employees.
This paper summarizes the results of a survey implemented at major Portuguese construction companies in order to understand what ICT tools and mobility solutions are used and what their level of knowledge on the subject. The results reflect the will and the need that the construction companies feel to acquire and implement ICT tools and mobility solutions that enable to respond positively to the current requirements including the productivity improvement need and centralization and optimal management of information.

The Centre for Territory, Environment and Construction (CTAC) is a research unit of the School of Engineering of University of Minho (UMinho), recognised by the “FCT – Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia” (Foundation for Science and Technology), associated to the Department of Civil Engineering (DEC), with whom it shares resources and namely human resources.
Currently CTAC aggregates 25 researchers holding a PhD of which 20 are faculty professors of the Civil Engineering Department. Read more
