    Os res{\'\i}duos de pneus representam um problema ambiental de gravidade crescente, actualmente 1.000 milh{\~o}es de pneus atingem o fim da sua vida {\'u}til a cada ano que passa e prev{\^e}-se que a partir do ano 2030 seja necess{\'a}rio reciclar 5000 milh{\~o}es de pneus anualmente. O presente artigo apresenta resultados sobre a resist{\^e}ncia {\`a} compress{\~a}o e a resist{\^e}ncia ao ataque por {\'a}cido sulf{\'u}rico de bet{\~o}es com raz{\~a}o A/L=0,35), com substitui{\c c}{\~a}o de areia por res{\'\i}duos de borracha de pneus e de cimento por cinzas volantes e metacaulino. Os resultados mostram que a incorpora{\c c}{\~a}o de res{\'\i}duos de borracha se traduz em relevantes redu{\c c}{\~o}es da resist{\^e}ncia {\`a} compress{\~a}o, as quais s{\~a}o no entanto minimizadas pelo efeito sin{\'e}rgico entre as cinzas volantes e o metacaulino. Os resultados mostram tamb{\'e}m que as misturas com 45\% de cinzas volantes e 15\% de metacaulino apresentam uma elevada resist{\^e}ncia ao ataque por {\'a}cido sulf{\'u}rico independentemente da percentagem de borracha utilizada, pelo menos at{\'e} 15\%, revelando uma elevada aptid{\~a}o para serem utilizadas em meios de elevada agressividade qu{\'\i}mica, como sejam as manilhas utilizadas na drenagem de {\'a}guas residuais.

    The Centre for Territory, Environment and Construction (CTAC) is a research unit of the School of Engineering of University of Minho (UMinho), recognised by the “FCT – Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia” (Foundation for Science and Technology), associated to the Department of Civil Engineering (DEC), with whom it shares resources and namely human resources.
