C.} }The survival of the existent linear model is threatened by the limited availability of natural resources for production and the limited capacity of the environment to recycle pollution. The circular economy model, constitutes an alternative to rethink the model and generate value through a better alignment of man and nature works. The new model should constitute a source of innovative products and processes, but fundamentally innovative business and consumption models. As such, it constitutes a source of new opportunities for firms. The present paper analyses the implementation of circular economy initiatives at Europa\&c Kraft Viana (EKPV) {\textendash} a pulp and paper industry firm, and computes the associated avoided costs.
The Centre for Territory, Environment and Construction (CTAC) is a research unit of the School of Engineering of University of Minho (UMinho), recognised by the “FCT – Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia” (Foundation for Science and Technology), associated to the Department of Civil Engineering (DEC), with whom it shares resources and namely human resources.
Currently CTAC aggregates 25 researchers holding a PhD of which 20 are faculty professors of the Civil Engineering Department. Read more
