    A investiga{\c c}{\~a}o consistiu na identifica{\c c}{\~a}o dos tipos de fungos existentes em diversos edif{\'\i}cios de habita{\c c}{\~a}o da zona norte de Portugal. Foram selecionados quatro edif{\'\i}cios de habita{\c c}{\~a}o e recolhidas tr{\^e}s amostras de fungos existentes em paredes e tetos. Esta recolha serviu como base para o estudo do tipo de fungos existentes nos edif{\'\i}cios. Houve especial aten{\c c}{\~a}o em variar o local, tipo de constru{\c c}{\~a}o, idade, tipo de revestimentos, tipo de pinturas, exposi{\c c}{\~a}o solar, entre outros fatores. Esta identifica{\c c}{\~a}o foi ponto de partida para a caracteriza{\c c}{\~a}o morfol{\'o}gica dos fungos. Atrav{\'e}s do m{\'e}todo fenot{\'\i}pico, foram isolados fungos do g{\'e}nero aspergillus, penicillun, cladosporium e alternaria. A caracteriza{\c c}{\~a}o morfol{\'o}gica e molecular dos
    fungos isolados foi efetuada atrav{\'e}s de m{\'e}todos genot{\'\i}picos. Ap{\'o}s a identifica{\c c}{\~a}o e caracteriza{\c c}{\~a}o dos fungos existentes ser{\~a}o executados ensaios de crescimento acelerado de fungos em materiais correntes (argamassas de cal, gesso ou cimento, em suportes de bet{\~a}o ou tijolo) e materiais com incorpora{\c c}{\~a}o de nanoaditivos: di{\'o}xido de tit{\^a}nio (TiO2), cobre (Cu) assim como nanopart{\'\i}culas de corti{\c c}a). Os resultados destes ensaios permitir{\~a}o desenvolver materiais inovadores para a preven{\c c}{\~a}o de fungos em paredes e tetos.

    The Centre for Territory, Environment and Construction (CTAC) is a research unit of the School of Engineering of University of Minho (UMinho), recognised by the “FCT – Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia” (Foundation for Science and Technology), associated to the Department of Civil Engineering (DEC), with whom it shares resources and namely human resources.
