    A corros{\~a}o das armaduras de a{\c c}o tem sido a principal causa de deteriora{\c c}{\~a}o das estruturas de bet{\~a}o armado em todo o mundo. A a{\c c}{\~a}o dos i{\~o}es cloreto e da carbonata{\c c}{\~a}o est{\~a}o, normalmente, na origem do fen{\'o}meno. Ao contr{\'a}rio do que acontece com o efeito individual destes agentes agressores, estudos sobre o efeito combinado no bet{\~a}o ainda s{\~a}o pouco expressivos em quantidade e n{\~a}o re{\'u}nem consenso. Sabe-se que, isoladamente, a carbonata{\c c}{\~a}o modifica a microestrutura do bet{\~a}o e altera o seu pH. Estes fatores, no contexto da a{\c c}{\~a}o combinada, podem ter influ{\^e}ncia direta na difus{\~a}o dos cloretos.
    Estudou-se a influ{\^e}ncia da carbonata{\c c}{\~a}o na penetra{\c c}{\~a}o de cloretos. Para tal, foram utilizadas amostras de bet{\~a}o, com cimento CEM I 42,5 R e raz{\~a}o {\'a}gua/ligante de 0,55. Ap{\'o}s o per{\'\i}odo de cura, metade das amostras foram carbonatadas(1, 2 e 7 meses), sob as seguintes condi{\c c}{\~o}es: 20{\textordmasculine}C, 55\%HR e 4\%CO2. A outa metade, foi protegida de forma a inibir a carbonata{\c c}{\~a}o e foi conservada em ambiente de laborat{\'o}rio. Ao fim do per{\'\i}odo de carbonata{\c c}{\~a}o, as amostras com e sem exposi{\c c}{\~a}o ao CO2 foram submetidas ao ensaio de migra{\c c}{\~a}o de cloretos de acordo com a especifica{\c c}{\~a}o LNEC E463.
    Os resultados obtidos permitiram concluir que, para as condi{\c c}{\~o}es estudadas, o efeito combinado dos agentes agressores traduz-se num aumento da penetra{\c c}{\~a}o de cloretos no bet{\~a}o quando comparado com o efeito individual dos i{\~o}es cloreto, o que pode acelerar o processo corrosivo. Este facto pode estar relacionado com o aumento nos grandes poros capilares e com redu{\c c}{\~a}o na capacidade de fixa{\c c}{\~a}o de cloretos causado pela carbonata{\c c}{\~a}o.
