    O consumo e a produ{\c c}{\~a}o de energia est{\'a} associado a impactes ambientais muito elevados. O setor dos edif{\'\i}cios {\'e} um dos que mais contribui para estes impactes. Isto deve-se em parte {\`a} exist{\^e}ncia de padr{\~o}es de conforto cada vez mais exigentes e a um elevado ritmo de crescimento da popula{\c c}{\~a}o. O consumo de energia nos edif{\'\i}cios residenciais est{\'a} maioritariamente associado ao aquecimento e arrefecimento do ambiente interior, de forma a obter maior conforto t{\'e}rmico dos ocupantes. Uma solu{\c c}{\~a}o para reduzir estes consumos {\'e} a implementa{\c c}{\~a}o de tecnologias e materiais de mudan{\c c}a de fase para armazenamento de energia t{\'e}rmica de forma a obter o maior rendimento econ{\'o}mico e conforto t{\'e}rmico. O n{\'u}mero de estudos sobre esta tem{\'a}tica tem aumentando ao longo dos anos, demonstrando os benef{\'\i}cios deste tipo de tecnologias. Desta forma, o principal objetivo deste estudo passa pelo estudo de tecnologias construtivas com incorpora{\c c}{\~a}o de materiais de mudan{\c c}a de fase para armazenamento de energia em edif{\'\i}cios. Os estudos a este n{\'\i}vel permitiram concluir que a utiliza{\c c}{\~a}o deste tipo de materiais nos edif{\'\i}cios tem grande potencial de poupan{\c c}a energ{\'e}tica. Permitiram ainda verificar que a viabilidade econ{\'o}mica deste tipo de solu{\c c}{\~o}es em Portugal {\'e} ainda limitada dado ao custo inicial dos PCMs.

    About CTAC

    The Centre for Territory, Environment and Construction (CTAC) is a research unit of the School of Engineering of University of Minho (UMinho), recognised by the “FCT – Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia” (Foundation for Science and Technology), associated to the Department of Civil Engineering (DEC), with whom it shares resources and namely human resources.

    Currently CTAC aggregates 25 researchers holding a PhD of which 20 are faculty professors of the Civil Engineering Department. Read more
