    Do ponto de vista hidr{\'a}ulico, os pilares de pontes s{\~a}o muitas vezes aproximados por cilindros para efeitos de modela{\c c}{\~a}o. Contudo, nem todos os pilares t{\^e}m essa geometria, o que condiciona a aplica{\c c}{\~a}o de resultados obtidos considerando a geometria cil{\'\i}ndrica a tais casos.

    Neste artigo s{\~a}o apresentadas medi{\c c}{\~o}es do escoamento na esteira de um cilindro alongado (Fig.1), realizadas com Velocimetria Laser por Efeito Doppler. {\'E} apresentada a an{\'a}lise do campo de velocidades (valores m{\'e}dios e turbulentos) a montante e a jusante e caracterizada a descri{\c c}{\~a}o do escoamento na esteira do cilindro alongado. S{\~a}o utilizados diferentes m{\'e}todos de an{\'a}lise como a an{\'a}lise estat{\'\i}stica e o m{\'e}todo dos quadrantes (Fig. 2), permitindo identificar algumas das propriedades cinem{\'a}ticas deste tipo de escoamento.

    Uma an{\'a}lise mais fina do campo de velocidades na esteira do cilindro alongado permitiu ainda determinar a frequ{\^e}ncia de eje{\c c}{\~a}o de v{\'o}rtices e determinar o respetivo n{\'u}mero de Strouhal.

    Finalmente, os resultados obtidos s{\~a}o comparados com resultados existentes para outras geometrias.

    The Centre for Territory, Environment and Construction (CTAC) is a research unit of the School of Engineering of University of Minho (UMinho), recognised by the “FCT – Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia” (Foundation for Science and Technology), associated to the Department of Civil Engineering (DEC), with whom it shares resources and namely human resources.
