    As vias de comunica{\c c}{\~a}o e, em particular, a rede rodovi{\'a}ria, constituem a
    infra-estrutura fundamental para o desenvolvimento global dos pa{\'\i}ses. A facilidade
    de utiliza{\c c}{\~a}o para o movimento de pessoas e bens entre diferentes locais {\'e} a principal
    raz{\~a}o para a import{\^a}ncia da mesma. No entanto, para garantir um funcionamento
    eficaz da rede {\'e} necess{\'a}rio que os pavimentos que a constituem mantenham um
    adequado estado de conserva{\c c}{\~a}o.

    A crescente preocupa{\c c}{\~a}o com o Desenvolvimento Sustent{\'a}vel vai favorecer a
    implementa{\c c}{\~a}o de sistemas de gest{\~a}o de pavimentos na grande maioria das
    Administra{\c c}{\~o}es Rodovi{\'a}rias, de modo a optimizar os investimentos realizados
    neste sector. Ao contr{\'a}rio do que se verifica actualmente, os sistemas de
    gest{\~a}o passar{\~a}o a ser a regra e n{\~a}o ser{\~a}o exclusivos dos pavimentos. Assim,
    ser{\~a}o tamb{\'e}m desenvolvidas ferramentas de gest{\~a}o para as restantes
    infra-estruturas rodovi{\'a}rias, nomeadamente, as pontes e restantes obras de
    arte, as juntas de dilata{\c c}{\~a}o, os sistemas de drenagem, os equipamentos de
    sinaliza{\c c}{\~a}o e seguran{\c c}a, etc., as quais ser{\~a}o incorporadas em sistemas
    integrados de gest{\~a}o da infra-estrutura.

    About CTAC

    The Centre for Territory, Environment and Construction (CTAC) is a research unit of the School of Engineering of University of Minho (UMinho), recognised by the “FCT – Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia” (Foundation for Science and Technology), associated to the Department of Civil Engineering (DEC), with whom it shares resources and namely human resources.

    Currently CTAC aggregates 25 researchers holding a PhD of which 20 are faculty professors of the Civil Engineering Department. Read more
