    O estudo da previs{\~a}o de caudais de cheia em zonas urbanas tem assumido uma import{\^a}ncia crescente, especialmente num contexto de incerteza associado {\`a}s altera{\c c}{\~o}es clim{\'a}ticas (com o previsto aumento da frequ{\^e}ncia e severidade de fen{\'o}menos clim{\'a}ticos extremos), sendo uma componente indispens{\'a}vel no planeamento do espa{\c c}o urbano, de modo a dotar as cidades do futuro de maior atractividade ao incrementar as exig{\^e}ncias de seguran{\c c}a e de qualidade de vida para as suas popula{\c c}{\~o}es.

    Partindo do conhecimento dos resultados da modela{\c c}{\~a}o hidrodin{\^a}mica efectuada para a situa{\c c}{\~a}o de refer{\^e}ncia, obtidos para diferentes cen{\'a}rios de caudal de cheia, procedeu-se agora, neste volume, a uma an{\'a}lise cr{\'\i}tica mais detalhada desses resultados, que serve de base {\`a} apresenta{\c c}{\~a}o de propostas/solu{\c c}{\~o}es de interven{\c c}{\~a}o visando diminuir o impacto negativo dos efeitos de v{\'a}rios cen{\'a}rios de caudais de cheia, face {\`a} reduzida capacidade de vaz{\~a}o identificada em alguns trechos da ribeira e {\`a} crescente incerteza relativa {\`a}s caracter{\'\i}sticas (intensidade e frequ{\^e}ncia) dos eventos hidrol{\'o}gicos que ocorrem em meio urbano, ambas com uma influ{\^e}ncia directa e determinante na resposta hidrodin{\^a}mica dos sistemas de drenagem existentes que afluem ao cursos de {\'a}gua.

    About CTAC

    The Centre for Territory, Environment and Construction (CTAC) is a research unit of the School of Engineering of University of Minho (UMinho), recognised by the “FCT – Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia” (Foundation for Science and Technology), associated to the Department of Civil Engineering (DEC), with whom it shares resources and namely human resources.

    Currently CTAC aggregates 25 researchers holding a PhD of which 20 are faculty professors of the Civil Engineering Department. Read more
