    Com a consci{\^e}ncia de que arquitectura enfrenta hoje novos desafios, particularmente na necessidade de encontrar respostas integradoras e integradas no meio socio-cultural e ambiental, esta investiga{\c c}{\~a}o visa estimular o conhecimento de exemplares da arquitectura vern{\'a}cula portuguesa at{\'e} agora n{\~a}o documentados. Este patrim{\'o}nio permanece uma importante fonte de informa{\c c}{\~a}o, pelo seu apuramento experimental de d{\'e}cadas e, ao centrar o estudo nas fontes prim{\'a}rias, procurou-se uma interpreta{\c c}{\~a}o mais pr{\'o}xima do seu significado, compreendendo os prop{\'o}sitos que levaram a estes modos de construir. Reconhecendo o efeito do desenho arquitect{\'o}nico nos modos de vida e no ambiente, a investiga{\c c}{\~a}o realizada e que aqui se apresenta prop{\~o}e uma (re)leitura cr{\'\i}tica da arquitetura vern{\'a}cula transmontana, procurando estrat{\'e}gias que relacionem a arquitetura, o homem e o territ{\'o}rio, no sentido de uma maior sustentabilidade social, ambiental e econ{\'o}mica que, simultaneamente, respeite a identidade local.

    About CTAC

    The Centre for Territory, Environment and Construction (CTAC) is a research unit of the School of Engineering of University of Minho (UMinho), recognised by the “FCT – Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia” (Foundation for Science and Technology), associated to the Department of Civil Engineering (DEC), with whom it shares resources and namely human resources.

    Currently CTAC aggregates 25 researchers holding a PhD of which 20 are faculty professors of the Civil Engineering Department. Read more
