@JournalArticle {1799, title = {Trombe Wall and Glazings Fa{\c c}ades: Energy Efficiency for Different Portuguese Climates}, journal = {Informes de la Construccion}, volume = {65 - Extra 1}, year = {2013}, month = {2013-09-30 00:00:00}, pages = {11-22}, publisher = {Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientificas}, edition = {September 2013}, abstract = {High performance glass and Trombe walls in the fa{\c c}ade was studied in this research. The paper reports results of an ongoing investigation on a new fa{\c c}ade system concept, designed as: {\textquotedblleft}Fa{\c c}ade Modules for Eco-Ef ! cient Refurbishment of Buildings{\textquotedblright}, especially on energy ef ! - ciency of Trombe wall and glazing mod- ules arrangement. Computational simula- tion was carried out by using the software DesignBuilder. Two double glazing types and Trombe walls were considered for three different climates in Portugal and four solar orientations. Results obtained for heating energy needs were compared to all fa{\c c}ade con ! gurations. The use of Trombe wall and the double self-clean- ing glass in the fa{\c c}ade point towards a signi ! cant decrease of heating energy needs. The great majority of the fa{\c c}ades combinations presented energy needs lower than the maximum allowed by the Portuguese regulation (RCCTE).
