    A constante preocupa{\c c}{\~a}o com a preserva{\c c}{\~a}o da sa{\'u}de humana impulsiona o necess{\'a}rio desenvolvimento de novos e mais sustent{\'a}veis processos de tratamento para remo{\c c}{\~a}o de micropoluentes das {\'a}guas, dado que alguns deles, quando em presen{\c c}a da mat{\'e}ria org{\^a}nica natural (MON), podem ser percussores de subst{\^a}ncias potencialmente cancer{\'\i}genas e apresentar comportamento refrat{\'a}rio {\`a}s tecnologias convencionais instaladas na grande maioria das esta{\c c}{\~o}es de tratamento de {\'a}gua (ETA). O presente trabalho de investiga{\c c}{\~a}o teve como objetivos o desenvolvimento e a avalia{\c c}{\~a}o da efici{\^e}ncia da aplica{\c c}{\~a}o de t{\'e}cnicas de oxida{\c c}{\~a}o avan{\c c}ada na remo{\c c}{\~a}o de constituintes presentes na MON, com nanopart{\'\i}culas suspensas de di{\'o}xido de tit{\^a}nio (TiO2). Neste documento s{\~a}o apresentadas as metodologias utilizadas neste estudo e a an{\'a}lise dos resultados obtidos em ensaios de degrada{\c c}{\~a}o de {\'a}cido h{\'u}mico (AH), simulando a MON, num reator do tipo batch, sob incid{\^e}ncia de radia{\c c}{\~a}o solar (RS) e radia{\c c}{\~a}o UV com e sem o contributo catal{\'\i}tico das nanopart{\'\i}culas de TiO2. A otimiza{\c c}{\~a}o das condi{\c c}{\~o}es de degrada{\c c}{\~a}o foi estudada procedendo-se {\`a} avalia{\c c}{\~a}o do efeito da dosagem de TiO2. A melhor efici{\^e}ncia de degrada{\c c}{\~a}o de MON foi de 99\%, tendo sido obtida sob incid{\^e}ncia de radia{\c c}{\~a}o UV, com uma concentra{\c c}{\~a}o inicial de AH igual a 8 mg/L e uma concentra{\c c}{\~a}o de TiO2 de 5 mg/L. Os testes de toxicidade realizados {\`a}s solu{\c c}{\~o}es resultantes do processo fotocatal{\'\i}tico de degrada{\c c}{\~a}o do AH mostraram que os compostos formados n{\~a}o induziram toxicidade na matriz aquosa.

    The Centre for Territory, Environment and Construction (CTAC) is a research unit of the School of Engineering of University of Minho (UMinho), recognised by the “FCT – Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia” (Foundation for Science and Technology), associated to the Department of Civil Engineering (DEC), with whom it shares resources and namely human resources.
